 High Plains Morning
Airs Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

High Plains Morning is a show that features great acoustic music from jazz traditions, blues, bluegrass, world traditional music, cutting edge new music, folk, and so much more!  It's a great blend of music you may be familiar with and some you've never heard before.  Tucked neatly into the bottom of each hour, we have informational segments like Medical Edge, a health program from The Mayo Clinic. Plus, every morning at 10:30, tune in for High Plains Features, locally produced shows highlighting the unique characteristics of the High Plains Region. We keep our eye on the weather and community events while enjoying a great blend of music that is nothing short of a typical High Plains Morning - it's never the same show twice!

 This week's A-List CD
Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to noon on High Plains Morning

This week’s A-List CD is pure fingerstyle guitar magic!  It’s Chris Proctor, and if you enjoy hearing beautiful solo guitar music played by a sincere master of the instrument, you are going to love this album, Ladybug Stomp. Critics call his guitar playing “breathtaking,” “haunting,” and “rich.” They trace the roots of his style to folk, jazz, pop, and classical music, and, when all else fails, they try and categorize his playing as “baroque folk,” or “Instrumental Americana.”
Chris will be performing in the historic “Shirley Opera House” at The Aberdeen Steakhouse, 503 Main st.  in Atwood, KS on November 9th.  If you’re able to attend, I absolutely encourage you to do so!  And we’re at this very moment working on plans to have Chris perform in an HPPR “Living Room Concert” sometime in 2010.  Watching him play is simply mesmerizing.

WTAMU proudly presents …
THE MAG SEVEN for next Living Room Concert
Friday, November 6th, at 7:30 PM

“THE MAG SEVEN” are, in the Texas manner of speaking, “instrumentalists for hire”, musical gun slingers, playing everything from Surf Music and Spaghetti Western themes to Jazz.  Their influences range from The Descendents to John Coltrane and Ennio Marricone, The Ventures, and Stravinsky.  Together, they are a musical tour-de-force, an excellent instrumental ensemble capable of mastering any style.  Dallas bassist Donivan Blair (of The Toadies & Hagfish) has assembled (or rather, RE-assembled) this oh-so-groovy band of Musical Mercenaries, relocated to Amarillo and recorded a new album, The Cotton Needle Sessions  ...more...
