Colorado Women's Group Gives Republican Legislators Low Marks

A women’s organization in Colorado has drawn the attention of The Denver Post for giving its highest marks to Democrats. On a recent scorecard of Colorado legislators, the Women’s Lobby of Colorado gave almost every Democrat a score of 100. Republicans, by contrast, generally got low scores—including female lawmakers.

The group’s president explained that Republicans provided little help for women and families during this legislative session.

Priority legislation for the group included a bill to help low-income families afford child care, two bills to remove barriers to birth control in private insurance, a bill to make sure state contractors pay women equally, and a bill to improve insurance coverage for breast cancer screenings. All of these bills were defeated by Republican lawmakers.

Still, the Post referred to the nonpartisan Women’s Lobby as an “obviously left-leaning organization.”
