Kobach Joins Trump's Immigration Team

KWCH

Donald Trump has named Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach to his immigration transition team, KWCH reports.

Kobach said the job will take some of his time, but won’t take him away from home much. “I've got plenty to do here in Kansas,” he said.

An avowed immigration hard-liner, Kobach advised Trump on immigration throughout his campaign. As the LA Times reports, the Kansas Secretary of State has been a lightning rod for criticism in recent years. Kobach has drawn nationwide criticism as the architect of several immigration and voting laws decried by critics as racist. He has crafted controversial anti-immigration legislation in Arizona and Alabama, as well-as in Kansas. Federal courts have struck down several of Kobach’s laws as unconstitutional.

Regarding Trump’s plan to erect a wall along the Mexican border Kobach said, “There’s no question the wall is going to get built.”
