Texas employers added almost 14,000 jobs last month, according to the latest report from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Over the past year, the Lone Star State has added almost 210,000 jobsto its job-rolls, reinforcing the resiliency of the Texas economy.
As MySanAntonio.com reports,the state’s unemployment rate fell one percentage point, down to 4.7 percent, last month. That’s lower than the national rate of 4.9 percent. The largest gains came in the trade, transportation and utilities sectors. The financial and manufacturing sectors also performed well. The mining and oil sectors even added 1,000 jobs, bucking recent downward trends.
The only sector that didn’t gain jobs in October was construction, which lost over 3,000 jobs.
Amarillo, Lubbock, and Austin recorded the three lowest unemployment rates in the state.
