KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Texas Drivers Applying For License Will Have To Take "Distracted Driving" Course

TexVet.org

Beginning next month, anyone over 18 applying for a driver’s license in the state of Texas will have to take a course to understand the dangers of driving while distracted.

As The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, the class is called the “Impact Texas Young Drivers” course, and it highlights the dangers of texting while driving. A similar two-hour video course was introduced for drivers under the age of 18, two years ago.

The new course is an hour shorter than the video for teens. The program is modeled after a similar video developed in California.

In a news release, DPS Director Steven McCraw said the new video “uses research and compelling true stories to highlight the many risks facing drivers.” The theme of the course is, “It is not about bad people doing bad things, but about good people making poor choices.”
