Event Description

Join violinist Rachel Barton Pine on Fridays for “Family Fridays with RBP.” The 20-minute free weekly show streams live on Facebook (facebook.com/RBPviolinist) and YouTube (youtube.com/user/RachelBartonPine).  EPISODE 22: ONE VIOLIN AS MANY On Friday, November 27, Rachel demonstrates music where one violinist plays multiple parts on a single instrument. Bach's Fuga from Sonata No. 1 includes three voices in dialogue, Rachel's arrangement of a medley of Piazzola tangos has the violinist simultaneously playing melody and accompaniment, and Rachel's variations on the New Zealand national anthem show how a violinist can be a one-person duo by plucking and bowing the same melody in canon.
