Study: Kansas Economic Numbers Are the Worst in America

Of late, the Kansas economy has been the worst in the country, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia recently released its monthly survey of economic indices for the 50 states. The survey combines a number of metrics, including nonfarm payroll employment, average hours worked in manufacturing by production workers, unemployment rate, and inflation-adjusted wages and salaries. During the period from July through September, Kansas showed a decline of over one percent. That ranks Kansas dead last.

The situation in Kansas has been a consistent embarrassment to Gov. Sam Brownback and his fellow Republicans in Topeka. In fact, in August 2015 the Brownback administration stopped publishing a semi-annual report of the state’s economy online. Members of the public now have to make a special request for the document.
