Rick Perry has a new job. The former Texas governor and presidential candidate is working with the largest privately held dental insurance company in the country. The company, MCNA Dental, was also the top donor to Perry’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Governor Perry will now serve as MCNA’s chief strategy officer. According to The Texas Tribune, the company donated almost $40,000 directly to Perry’s 2016 presidential campaign. In addition, MCNA Dental has in the past given another $20,000 to a Perry political action committee. A former Perry political appointee sits on the board of MCNA Dental. Albert Hawkins, who was appointed by Perry to lead the Texas Health and Human Services Commission in 2003, now serves as the MCNA board’s vice chair.
