Ted Cruz Faces Blowback From Texas Delegation for RNC Speech

Last week Senator Ted Cruz delivered a bombshell speech at the Republican National Convention, in which he refused to support Donald Trump, the party nominee. But, as ABC News reports, some of the harshest backlash came from members of Cruz’s own delegation in Texas. At the Texas delegation’s breakfast following his speech, Cruz was heckled by Texas delegates. One member said Cruz will never be president, adding “all he’s doing is helping Hillary Clinton.” Another delegate shouted “He’s a liar!” referring to Trump’s epithet for Cruz, “Lyin’ Ted.” However, one woman came to the Senator’s rescue. “He did the right thing,” she said. “He congratulated the nominee. He told the people to vote their conscience. She added: “I am a Christian first before I am a Republican,”
