Later this month, Jill Stein will make a campaign swing through Colorado, reports The Denver Post.Stein is the presidential candidate for the Green Party. Colorado overwhelmingly voted for Vermont senator Bernie Sanders at the 2016 caucuses. Stein hopes to appeal to Sanders’s former supporters.
The latest poll shows Stein holding seven percent of the vote in Colorado. Stein was also the Green’s candidate in the 2012 election, but in that race she only drew 0.3 percent of the vote in Colorado.
Some critics worry that Stein’s bid will help boost Donald Trump’s chances of winning the White House. The retired Massachusetts physician has rejected that notion, saying, “I will have trouble sleeping at night if Donald Trump is elected.” She added: “I will also have trouble sleeping at night if Hillary Clinton is elected.”
Colorado didn’t favor either of the eventual major party candidates during the primary season. That makes the state ripe territory for third-party options.
