Tune Into HPPR Tonight For A Live Broadcast Of The Kansas Gubernatorial Debate In Garden City

Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce

All five Kansas gubernatorial candidates will be in Garden City this evening for a debate, hosted by the Southwest Kansas Chambers of Commerce. HPPR will be broadcasting the debate live.

Details about the event our outlined below:

The five candidates, Republican Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Democratic Senator Laura Kelly, Libertarian Jeff Caldwell, and Independent candidates Greg Orman and Rick Kloos will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. CST at the Clifford Hope Auditorium at Horace Good Middle School. The event is free and is open to the public.

The debate will begin with opening statements from each candidate, followed by a question and answer session and rebuttals. Each candidate will provide a final statement at the end of the debate.

The debate will be moderated by Marieta Hauser, director of the Grant County Chamber of Commerce.

Myca Bunch, president of the Garden City Chamber, said as with primary candidate forums, it is hoped that the debate will provide citizens of southwest Kansas an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates so that they can make an informed decision at the polls Nov. 6.

“This is an important election for the state of Kansas and we are happy to have all five candidates visit our region and participate in the event," Bunch said.
