Gallup has released a new index, ranking all states according to the well-being of their citizens. Texas's index number is high compared to other states, reports KUT.Even so, Texans say they’re not as well-off as they were a year ago. The Gallup-Healthways annual report analyzes five facets of wellness: Sense of Purpose, Social Relationships, Financial Security, Relationship to Community and Physical Health.
Texas’s overall score for 2015 dropped by one point from the previous year. But the state ranked No. 11 out of all 50 states. However, the Lone Star State ranked second in the nation in residents’ sense of purpose.
Hawaii was first in the nation in well-being. Colorado came in fourth. Nebraska was 20th, and Kansas came in 25th. Oklahoma fared very poorly, coming in 48th out of 50 states.
