Other ways to support HPPR

There are many ways you may be able to financially support HPPR that don’t require using cash and may have special tax saving advantages for you.

Stocks and other securities. Giving marketable securities including publicly traded stock, bonds, or mutual funds can be a tax advantaged way to make a generous gift to HPPR. Appreciated securities, particularly those held longer than one year, may reduce or avoid capital gains obligations and allow you to take a full tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock at the time of transfer.  And the contribution can be easily made through direct transfer to HPPR’s brokerage account with Edward Jones (Lora Schneider, 620-271-0027). Click here for full information on making stock transfers.

Charitable IRA rollover. If you are 70 1/2 or older and required to take a minimum distribution from your IRA, it can be used to make a gift to HPPR in a way that will satisfy your required minimum distribution without paying taxes on it.  The gift needs to be made directly through a check written on your IRA account to HPPR (Kanza Society Inc.) or by direct transfer from your IRA account to HPPR’s brokerage account at Edward Jones. Click here for more information.

Donor advised fund. If you or your family has a donor advised fund through a financial institution (Schwab, Fidelity, etc.) or a community foundation, you can support HPPR through the fund by requesting that HPPR be a grant recipient. In making the request, you’ll need to specify the recipient as legal entity operating HPPR, the Kanza Society Inc.  You may also need our Federal ID#, which is 48-0859735.

Vehicles of any sort.  With winter upon us, it may be a good time to dispose of an unused or unneeded vehicle.  HPPR accepts vehicle donations of any type – cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, etc. – in any condition.  And the process is very easy.  Click here to get it started so you’ll have the tax deduction for this year.

If you would like to reach someone direct for more information on making a contribution to HPPR by any of these means, you can contact Marva Clark, HPPR’s business manager, at 800-678-7444 and mclark@hppr.org or contact Quentin Hope, interim Executive Director at q@qhope.name.
