Thank you, the world. I can die now.
Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking with one of my favorite artists of all time: High Plains royalty, Mr. Jimmie Dale Gilmore. The TX Panhandle native will be making his debut at Lubbock Lights on Thursday, April 19th at Texas Tech's Allen Theatre in Lubbock. The show starts at 7pm. Tickets are still available, so check it out! He'll be joined on the stage by High Plains heroes Lloyd Maines & Amanda Shires.
Jimmie Dale has been a busy man, and he's not slowing down for a long while. This week, he heads up north for a few shows with fellow "Texas Troubadours" Ruthie Foster & Carrie Rodriguez.
Plus, on June 1st, his new album with Dave Alvin comes out! Downey to Lubbock has something for all the fans: blues, folk, country—and it's all filtered through two brilliant songwriters who have been friends for 30 years but never played together. HPPR cannot wait to get our hands on this album, but rest assured we'll spin the advance releases, "Billy the Kid & Geronimo" and the title track, "Downey to Lubbock." Jimmie Dale and Dave start their tour on May 23rd, so check out the schedule!
