Summer travel season is here, and it brings good news for Oklahoma travelers. Despite heavy demand, Oklahoma gas prices remain among the cheapest nationwide, reports The Duncan Banner.

The national average for regular gas prices continues to rise. But Oklahoma’s average has only moved up by two cents in the last three weeks. It now sits at just $2.15 a gallon.

A spokesman for AAA Oklahoma explained: “The forces propelling gas prices higher and the pressures keeping prices low seem to be canceling each other out.” Nationally, gas prices are sitting at their most expensive average since last September. However, prices are down 42 cents per gallon compared to a year ago. Crude oil prices have retreated slightly in recent weeks. California claims the highest gas-price average in the country.
