Empty Bowls: This Week in Amarillo

Our bowl runneth over on High Plains Morning after a visit from Tina Brohlin of High Plains Food Bank. She stopped by the studio to remind Amarillo-area residents about Empty Bowls, an annual fundraiser for the Kids Cafethat'll take place on April 20th at 5:30 - 7:30 pm CT. Tina says, "For a $10 donation, you can enjoy a delicious meal of homemade beef stew, and take home a handcrafted bowl as a reminder of all the bowls that go unfilled every day." Empty Bowls will take place at the Polk Street United Methodist Church in the Great Hall. In conjunction with the Amarillo Independent School District, the organization was able to secure a wide selection of ceramic bowls made by students, as well as some paper "art" bowls that, while not quite soup-worthy, can certainly hold your keys on your countertop. Again, the donation suggested is $10, and all proceeds will benefit the HPFB efforts to combat food insecurity among kids in the Amarillo area. Entertainment will be provided by the AISD choirs, so stop in for a community event for a good cause. To donate to this fundraiser, click here.
