High Plains Public Radio Names New Executive Director

Will Murphy

High Plains Public Radio is excited to announce the hiring of its new executive director, Will Murphy, who brings over 30 years of public radio experience to the High Plains region.

Murphy was selected by HPPR's board following a search over the past few months.

Murphy most recently served as program director of WFIU, the Indiana University NPR member station. He will assume duties at HPPR on Nov. 1.

“I am very excited about the challenges this opportunity offers. HPPR has served the high plains of Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas for almost 40 years," he said. "It has an enviable record of providing quality entertainment and information programs to a diverse geographic area."

Murphy has been part of the public radio industry since 1988 at stations in Wyoming and Indiana, serving as general manager at Northeast Indiana Public Radio in Fort Wayne and WFHB in Bloomington, Indiana.

Much of his career has been in journalism, working in public, community and commercial broadcasting, as well as print.

He holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in English from the University of Wyoming.
