The number of eligible Latino voters will hit a record high this year. And Latino voters could prove pivotal in the swing state of Colorado,according to Colorado Public Radio. The Pew Research Center recently publishedsome interesting facts about Latinos in Colorado. Colorado’s population is 21% Hispanic, the eighth largest in the nation. There are a little over a million Latinos in the state, and of those about half are eligible to vote. By contrast, almost 80 percent of the state’s white population can vote.
Of Colorado’s eligible voters, Hispanics make up 14% of the electorate. That puts Colorado seventh nationally. New Mexico is first, where Latinos make up 40 percent of the electorate.
About one-third of Hispanic eligible voters in Colorado are between the ages of 18 and 29. That’s a larger portion than in the general electorate.
