Leader of the Band: Friends of Fogelberg Concert & FREE Prostate Screening

Thanks so much to Buddy Squyres for stopping by High Plains Morning today to remind us all that it's officially Fogelberg Season! The 10th Annual Friends of Fogelberg benefit concert will be on Friday, September 6th at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

The theme this year is Dan Goes Country: With Mo’ Surprises,” and dozens of local musicians will be featured at the show, performing country/western-style music, as well as some folk and Americana.

The purpose for this concert is to raise awareness for prostate cancer, also known as “the silent killer.” Plus, there’s always an accompanying FREE prostate screenings the next day: Saturday, September 7th at Amarillo Urology Associates. The sooner you know you might have an issue, the better your chances are of surviving it. SO GUYS, GO GET CHECKED! It's a simple blood test that could save a life!

ALSO, you can purchase a ticket for a chance to win a D-41 Martin Guitar ($6,700 value), signed by CEO Chris Martin IV, who donated to guitar to the event. Stop by Tarpley’s Music (3800 I-40 West, Amarillo) to enter, or buy tickets at the event.

Doors open at 6p CT, with a serenade in the foyer by Amarillo’s own Fine & Dandy. The show starts at 7:30pm and features Young Country, Joe Ed Coffman, Mark Jones, Charlie Clinton, Bob Hopkins, Insufficient Funds, The Survivors, and more.

Tickets to the concert are on sale now at PanhandleTickets.com. You can also purchase tickets at United Supermarkets and the Amarillo Civic Center Complex Box Office.

Part of the proceeds will benefit the Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation of Amarillo. Another portion will go toward the AJ Swope Plaza, an outdoor performance venue will be built to honor AJ Swope, a beloved local musician, after his untimely death.
