Living Room Concert: Those Guys - 3/12 @ The Fibonacci

Who are THOSE GUYS? Now that’s a question this trio of seasoned musicians has heard more than a few times.

Perhaps because they choose to duck out of Amarillo’s acoustic live music venues. “We know most of the local working musicians,” the trio says. “We don’t need to take gigs that could be theirs.” Rather, they stick to playing events, benefits, gatherings of friends and family, and their monthly residence at area assisted living centers.

“We’re one of Amarillo’s best kept musical secrets,” says multi-instrumentalist Rick Todd, “probably because our friends and loved ones dare not let us out of their sight!”

Their eclectic blend of folk, blues, acoustic rock, and Celtic music makes them hard to put in a category. It stems from the group’s more than 120 years’ collective history playing music. “I enjoy exposing new audiences to live acoustic music,” says guitarist Eric Berg. John Cates serves as the trio’s percussionist and harmonica player. He says it keeps him focused on a healthy lifestyle – and it’s not bad for his diet. “Eating, drinking, and playing the harp don’t mix. It’s hell on the reeds.”

The band will showcase a mix of original and traditional tunes for this Living Room Concert, with a focus on thoughtful song writing, tasteful multi-instrumental arrangements, and tight three-part harmonies.

Don’t miss it! They say it may be your only chance to hear Those Guys until you visit your mom in the retirement center.
