New Poll Suggests Texas Could Be a Toss-up in November

Washington Post

A new Washington Post poll lists Texas as a tossup state in the upcoming presidential election. According to the poll published Tuesday, Texas provided the most unexpected results of any state.

That’s because, as the Post noted, “The Lone Star State has been a conservative Republican bastion for the past four decades.”

The Post-SurveyMonkey poll shows a dead heat in Texas, with Clinton at 46 percent and Trump at 45 percent. Colorado is the only other swing state in the High Plains listening area, with Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska falling safely into the Republican category.

Other close state in the poll included North Carolina, Ohio and Arizona. Texas is still a tossup even with Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein thrown into the mix. The state-by-state numbers are based on responses from more than 74,000 registered voters between Aug. 9 to Sept. 1.
