The first confirmed of COVID-19 in the Oklahoma panhandle was announced Sunday. The state has seen a dramatic spike in cases, going from 17 to over 480 in just the past two weeks.
According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), a COVID-19 was confirmed in Texas County, which along with Garfield, Rogers and Seminole counties, is now required to come into compliance with Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt's Safer at Home order, which includes the following:
- Stay home and avoid groups of 10 or more people
- Avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants, and food courts. Instead use drive-thru, pickup, or delivery options
- Avoid discretionary travel, gyms, social visits, and shopping trips
- Do not visit nursing homes, retirement or long-term care facilities
As of Monday, there are 481 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with new cases being confirmed in Beckham, Cotton and Love counties. Those counties are also now required to come into compliance with the Safer at Home order.
