The dream of many Oklahomans to one day be able to buy beer and wine in grocery stores came one step closer to fruition this week, reports KFOR.
The Oklahoma House Rules Committee has passed a measure that would allow wine and strong beer to be sold at grocery and convenience stores. The bill would also eliminate the requirement that beer be limited to 3.2 percent alcohol by volume. The measure would also allow liquor stores to sell cold beer and wine and non-alcoholic products like soda, ice, mixers and corkscrews.
Senate Joint Resolution 68passed with a vote of 6-3, which will send it to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
