Oklahoma’s Sportsmen Will Have New Places To Hunt This Season

sheppard.af.mi

Dove hunting season begins in Oklahoma on Sept. 1 and this year hunters will have more places to hunt and view wildlife.

As The Oklahoman reports, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will open new areas this year for hunting.

The agency is leasing acreage from private landowners to allow for more outdoor sporting. The conservation agency is working up to the last minute to bring in new hunting site options, and the agency’s website is being updated regularly. Hunters can view the map of hunting sites at this website.

New dove hunting areas will be available in northwest and southwest Oklahoma.

The leasing program has become popular with wheat farmers, who have found a new source of September revenue.
