Older Americans Month Celebration: This Friday in Amarillo

Thanks so much to Lisa Hancock from the Area Agency on Aging of the Panhandle for stopping by High Plains Morning to tell us about the Older Americans Month Celebration, this Friday, May 3rd from 8:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. CT at Region 16 Education Conference Center on 5800 Bell St. in Amarillo.

The celebration honors outstanding Panhandle seniors who have made significant contributions to their community, as well as two guest speakers focusing on ways to connect, create and contribute to the community. First, Mayor Ginger Nelson will present the honorees: Roy McCoy; Richard Stoops; and John & Terry Wagoner. Next, guest speakers J. Paul Matney, Ed.D. and Joslyn Harney will discuss staying involved in the community. The celebration will end with the agency’s 3rd Bi-Annual talent show (and there will be a twirler, folks!); there will be cash prizes for the winners. Lunch is provided by The Craig.

For more information or to RSVP, please contact Lisa Hancock via email or call her at (806) 331-2227. For more about AAA of the Panhandle, check out their website.  To hear our full interview, click the link below.
