When it comes to who wants to be the next president, all roads seem to lead to … Texas.
There are about two dozen serious contenders for the office. And, an uncanny number have a legitimate Texas connection reports the Texas Tribune.
Some have been in the Lone Star State for just a few months, often on a campaign job. Others were born there. Still others were educated or lived there for a job.
Here are a few examples:
Rick Perry- the states longest serving governor grew up in Paint Creek, graduated from Texas A&M, and has held state office since 1985.
Ted Cruz- The Republican U.S. Senator grew up in Houston, graduated from Second Baptist High, and lives there now.
Jeb Bush was born in Midland, Texas. The former Florida governor grew up in Houston, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
One of Hillary Clinton’s first political gigs was in Texas, working on George McGovern’s 1972 presidential campaign.
Rand Paul was raised in Lake Jackson. He attended Baylor University for a time, going on to Duke Medical School.
