The most common jobs are changing. Across the high plains, truck drivers dominate.
Why? NPR reports there are a few reasons:
- Driving a truck is immune to globalization and automation.
- Regional specialization has declined.
- And part of it has to do with the way the Census Bureau categorizes jobs. It lumps together all truck drivers and delivery people creating a very large category.
