live theatre

Despite the many challenges posed, our High Plains arts community has certainly NOT shut down during the pandemic. This weekend, West Texas A&M University's Departmetn of Theatre has a treat for vintage radio lovers across the region.

It’s always a good day when you can share some time discussing death with a man of the theatre—and today was a good day.

Thanks so much to the brilliant Stephen Crandall, Department Head of Art, Theatre and Dance at West Texas A&M University.

I’m so happy we had Amarillo Little Theatre’s Jason Crespin (Academy Director) and Kayden Burns (Actor, ALT Academy) stopped by High Plains Morning this week to share information about their new production at the ALT Main Stage (2019 Civic Circle, Amarillo): The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Thanks to ALT Academy Director Jason Crespin for stopping by HPPR Studios to remind us about the regional premiere of the Broadway hit musical Mamma Mia!, the next show from Amarillo Little Theatre. It runs May 2 through 19, and tickets are going FAST. They run Thursdays at 7:30 pm CT; Friday and Saturdays at 8:00 pm CT; and Sundays at 2:30 pm CT. Plus, they just added a matinee on Saturday, May 11th (and tickets are still available for that one, as of now).

Thanks so much to Krystal Burns of Palace Coffee & the Amarillo Little Theatre Guild for stopping by High Plains Morning to tell us all about the ALT Gala 2019, which is THIS SATURDAY. It's a crucial fundraiser for the organization’s productions, outreach initiatives, and educational endeavors. Join them to glam up Amarillo for one night only with this year’s theme: “Hollywood Glam.” It’ll be a place to dance, drink, and revel the night away in true Hollywood Glam style.

Thanks so much to Jason Crespin for stopping by High Plains Morning today to tell us about Amarillo Little Theatre Academy and the ALT Guild's presentation of  HONK!, a heartwarming musical for kids (and their parents!) about the tale of the Ugly Duckling. This delightful and award-winning adaptation of one of the world's most beloved fables is being presented March 29th– April 7th. Tickets and information can be found on their

Thank you to Jason Crespin of Amarillo Little Theatre / ALT Academy for stopping by High Plains Morning today to share info about the new show! ALT is very pleased to present the hilarious and heartwarming play Steel Magnolias as our fourth Mainstage production of the season. Every Southern woman knows there are few institutions on earth more important than the town beauty parlor.
