Texas and Oklahoma panhandle ag people had a blast last week at the 2015 Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show, reports Amarillo.com.The event showcases the newest and most technologically advanced farming and ranching equipment on the market. Amarillo sees the industry’s best, due to its status as one of the most productive ag areas in the world.
If the 26 counties that make up the High Plains Trade Area were a state, it would rank first or second in the U.S. in beef production, depending on the year. The region would also fall into the top 15 states in dairy, swine, corn, cotton, wheat and sorghum production.
Many of the instruments on display at the Farm and Ranch Show are massive machines that run well into the six-figures. For example, the Case Patriot has a 120-foot boom and a 1,200-gallon tank. Empty, it weighs 27,000 pounds. The price tag? Almost $400,000.
