Colorado's Construction Industry Continues to Boom

CPR

Colorado’s construction industry continues to thrive, reports Colorado Public Radio. Four out of five construction firms in the state expect to hire more workers this year, according to a new survey by the Associated General Contractors of America. Colorado construction is at higher levels than the national average. 81% of all firms surveyed plan to add workers.

The strong construction sector is a continuation of a trend. The state has added more than 40,000 construction jobs since the recession ended, according to federal data. Construction firms in the state have also increased worker incentives and base pay.

The moves are part of efforts to combat a shortage of quality workers. 71 percent of Colorado firms expect to see an increase in the dollar volume of private office projects this year. Colorado is also seeing gains in other sectors, including retail, lodging, road work and public buildings.
