Michael

Amarillo has finalized plans to begin offering direct flights to Austin.

As The Amarillo Globe-News reports, the non-stop flights from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will begin next month. The service is being offered through Via Airlines.

The flights will be in operation every day except Saturday, with the first flight scheduled for Sept. 19. That first flight will leave Austin at 7:45 a.m. and arrive in Amarillo at 9:15 a.m., then leave Amarillo at 9:50 a.m., arriving once again at Austin-Bergstrom at 11:15 a.m.

The cost for the direct flights ranges from $99 one way to $299 round trip, depending upon the day and the type of ticket. Via Airlines began as a charter flight company in Virginia in 1997 but has recently expanded to offer domestic flights.
