The job numbers for July are in, and the news continues to be good for Texas and Oklahoma.
The Lone Star State added jobs for the 25th consecutive month,reports The Houston Chronicle,as employment continues to grow at a healthy pace.
Texas’s unemployment rate remains unchanged at 4 percent, only slightly higher than the national rate of 3.9 percent. Over the past year, Texas has gained nearly 380,000 jobs, with employment growing at nearly double the rate of the nation at large.
Meanwhile, as The Oklahoma Reports, Oklahoma’s unemployment rate improved slightly to 3.8 percent, slightly better than the national rate. The new Oklahoma rate is the lowest in ten years. In the past year, Oklahoma has added over 27,000 jobs to its rolls. However, the news wasn’t all good in Oklahoma, as the education and health services sectors lost 1,300 jobs.
