Thomas County had the most rain in the state of Kansas this month, but overall, it’s not alleviating the drought according to the Garden City Telegram.
The biggest rain in the northwest county was about seven miles southwest of Levant, measuring 2.66 inches. Gem received 2.56 inches, while Colby had 2.49 inches.
Despite the rain, the wheat crop remains in poor condition.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports 90 percent of the state’s wheat crop is in fair or worse condition. Most of the corn has been planted, and 64 percent is in fair to very poor condition.
The pastures are in dismal conditions with 81 percent of the state rated fair to very poor.
