A new reportreveals which states have fully embraced renewable energy—and the states in the HPPR listening area are among the top in the nation.

As CBS News reports, the state of Texas now produces more wind energy than most countries - and a healthy portion of that energy is produced by wind farms in the Texas Panhandle.

In terms of sheer quantity, Texas produces more renewable energy than any other state. And Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado make up four of the top six states in the country when it comes to wind production.

Oklahoma now ranks third when it comes to wind and solar as a percentage of total energy consumption, and the state will leap to number two by the end of the year.

Meanwhile Texas Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado are four of only 11 states that generate more than 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy per year.
