In Texas, a crowded field of hopefuls is expected for statewide offices in the March primaries. However, for most Texas Panhandle posts, those primary races are going uncontested.Exceptions include U.S. Representatives Randy Neugebauer of Lubbock and Mac Thornberry of Clarendon, who expect primaries challengers, according to the Amarillo Globe-News.
Area state representatives who are not expected to have primary challengers include Rep. Drew Springer of Muenster (District 68), Rep. Charles Perry of Lubbock (District 83), and Rep. Ken King of Canadian (District 88). Senator Kel Seliger of Amarillo (District 31) is also not expected to have a primary challenger.
The Globe-News reports Democrat Abel Bosquez of Amarillo intends to run against Representative Four Price of Amarillo in District 87.
Challengers still have time to file during a month-long registration period beginning November 9.
