Texas Gears Up for Primary Election

Stephen Spillman

While you’re making your holiday preparations, Texas political operatives are swinging into high gear. The primary elections may seem a long way off, but they’re really just around the corner, says The Texas Tribune. Early voting starts on Feb. 16 for the March 1st election.

Last month, candidates started filing for their places on the ballots. The Texas primary falls early next year. That means the Lone Star State will receive special attention in 2016.

The Iowa Caucuses are on Feb. 1, followed by the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 9. Texans will already be voting when Nevada goes to the polls on Feb. 20.

Texas is one of the 13 “SEC states” to vote on Super Tuesday. But by the time election day comes, half of the state’s voters will have already cast their early ballots.
