Cruz Campaign Marches into High Plains Region

The presidential campaign of Texas GOP senator Ted Cruz has begun to stretch its tendrils into the High Plains region. CNN reportsthat the well-funded super PACs backing Cruz have begun a major push into Oklahoma and Kansas. This comes in addition to Cruz’s current strong operation in Texas.

All three of these states will vote in early March. Cruz hopes to amass a lead in delegates by focusing on these crucial areas. The constellation of Super PACs, known as Keep the Promise, has spent very little of its tens of millions so far. The group has hired two Oklahoma operatives to lead the effort.

The Cruz campaign believes it’s well positioned to win in Oklahoma, a state with a large base of evangelicals. Until now, the campaign has not paid as much attention to Kansas, which votes four days later than Oklahoma and Texas.
