The Year in Embarrassing Texas Online Political Moments

The Texas Observer just released a listof Texas politicians’ most embarrassing internet moments of 2015, and there are some doozies. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was taken to task for his habit of photographing himself. At one point, Patrick held up a Senate Education Committee hearing so that he could take a selfie in front of the panel.

Another embarrassing gaffe came when Republican state Rep. Jason Villalba posted a meme comparing Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders to a Nazi. Sanders is a Jewish man.

Another bad moment came when Republican state Rep. Jonathan Stickland posted an offensive rape joke on a fantasy football forum. Stickland wrote, “Rape is nonexistent in marriage. Take what you want my friend!”

And then there was Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, who said on his Facebook that he would slap anyone who wished him Happy Holidays.
