Yesterday (July 14th) was the last chance for an unaffiliated candidate to file a petition for nomination. The final opportunity for a write-in candidate to do so is next week, on the 21st.
October 17th marks the first day that general election ballots can legally be mailed out. That’s also the last day you can register to vote in any state through a voter registration drive.
Halloween is the last chance for voters to submit a registration application and still receive a ballot in the mail. The last day to file an absentee ballot application and receive the absentee ballot by mail is November first. (This applies if you’re absent from your home address.)
And finally: November 8, 2016 is the date of the general election. Polls will be open from seven a.m. to seven p.m.
