The State of Texas is suing the Obama Administration once again, reports KTSA.
This time the lawsuit centers around a new federal overtime pay law. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says he’s “constantly” having to sue the government because he and his colleagues feels the Obama Administration is making new laws. And he insists that the Executive Branch’s job is to enforce laws, not write them.
The disputed law will result in a large number of additional American workers being eligible for overtime pay. Paxton fears businesses will lay off workers rather than pay them overtime. Texas is just one of 21 states suing the federal government over the lawsuit. Kansas and Oklahoma are also part of the lawsuit. Paxton said he’s ready to fight the law all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. But he hopes the November Election will result in a change of course on the rule.
