GOP Voter Registrations Surge Oklahoma

As the deadline to register to vote in Oklahoma rapidly approaches, Republican numbers appear to be surging.

As KFOR reports, an increasing number of Oklahoma voters appear to have switched their party affiliation. Almost 9,000 voters have switched their party affiliation to Republican since Sept. 1. By contrast, only about 3,000 voters switched to the Democratic Party. And almost 4,000 have abandoned the traditional parties to become Independents.

Bryan Dean of the State Election Board explained: “The trends that we’re seeing are pretty much continuing the trends we’ve seen of late. For the last few decades, we’ve seen the number of Democrats is slowly decreasing and the number of Republicans is steadily increasing.”

Dean said Trump has the state locked up and pondered whether Clinton will carry a single county. “Oklahoma is a very conservative state,” he said.

Friday marks the deadline to register in Oklahoma.
