Texas Presidential Race Narrows

Trump’s lead in Texas has shrunk to within the margin of error, The Austin American-Statesman reports.

According to a new poll released Thursday, Trump is leading Clinton 47 percent to 43 percent among likely voters. That four point difference represents the margin of error for the poll. Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson garners three percent, with Green Party candidate Jill Stein receiving one percent, and five percent undecided.

That’s a change from a poll taken a month ago, which showed Trump leading Clinton by seven points, 39 percent to 32 percent.

By comparison, in 2012 Mitt Romney carried Texas by 16 points. John McCain carried Texas by 13 points in 2008.

Broken down by region, the poll found that Trump leads Clinton by 15 points in West Texas.
