Despite scandals, Texas GOP voters trust Trump

Jacob Villanueva / Bob Daemmrich

Republican voters in the Lone Star State remain staunch in their support of the President, despite the Russian fog that has descended over the White House.

As The Texas Tribune reports, while only five percent of Democrats believe Donald Trump has the right temperament to occupy the Oval Office, more than two out of three self-identified Republicans say Trump is the right kind of person for the job.

Likewise, four out of five Republicans think Trump is competent, while fewer than one in 10 Democrats would use that word to describe the President.

Trump had his worst showing among both groups when it comes to honesty and trustworthiness. A meager four percent of Democrats think the President to be honest. But even in this measure Trump performs well among the Texas GOP. A full 66 percent of Lone Star Republicans believe the President is trustworthy.
