Sen. Ted Cruz Expresses Frustration With Republican Gridlock

Jamelle Bouie

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz says he, too, is frustrated with the inaction of the Republican Party in Washington, reports The Texas Tribune.

Senator Cruz spoke to two separate groups of Tea Party supporters this weekend, saying, “As frustrated as y’all are, I’m sitting there everyday!”

Cruz noted that the GOP has an historic opportunity, given that the party controls both houses of Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court.

“And” the Senator added, “we ain’t doing diddly squat.”

Cruz insisted he deserves to be re-elected, even though he has not kept his promise to repeal Obamacare.

“Texans understand that I’m leading the fight to get this done," he said.

The Senator also said he believed Mitch McConnell would keep his position as Republican leader of the Senate for the foreseeable future.

“Republican Senators are with him,” Cruz said.
