Amid Protests, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin Delivers State Of The State Address

Oklahoma’s Chief Executive Mary Fallin gave her State of the State address last week, in which the Governor detailed her plans to fix the state’s ongoing budget crisis.

As KFOR reports, the speech made headlines as much for Fallin’s words as for the interruption at the end of the address by protestors, who hung a sign from the gallery that read “State of Despair” and shouted the word “liar” at the Governor.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma Watch has combedthrough Fallin’s previous State of the State addresses to determine how good the Governor has been at attaining her priorities. Back in 2011, in her first State of the State, Fallin said her first priority was to balance the state budget without raising taxes.

While taxes have lowered since Fallin took office, the Governor now conceded that the state’s staggering budget problems can’t be solved with budget cuts alone.
