Beto O’Rourke Has Now Visited Every Texas County

Beto O'Rourke for Congress Committee

Beto O’Rourke has now appeared in every county in Texas, including each of the counties in the Texas Panhandle.

But, as The Dallas Morning News notes, the young congressman from West Texas still has an uphill battle to unseat Senator Ted Cruz. O’Rourke has been crisscrossing Texas for 14 months, live-streaming his effort to visit all 254 counties in the Lone Star State.

The tour concluded with a town hall at the Santa Fe depot in Cooke County this weekend—a county that hasn’t voted for a Democrat since 1988.

But O’Rourke wasn’t fazed, according to a local official.

However, the big question remains: Can old-fashioned retail politics work in a state as huge as Texas? Recent polls suggest O’Rourke hasn’t yet succeeded in convincing a majority of Texans that he’s their man. The most recent numbers show Cruz leading by nine points.
