Four months ago, Texas house speaker Dennis Bonnen held a private meeting with conservative activist Michael Quinn Sullivan. During that meeting, according to Sullivan, Bonnen offered to trade political access in exchange for Sullivan's help in defeating 10 Republican candidates during next year's primaries. In short, Sullivan accused the speaker of the House of offering up a quid pro quo.
And for the past few months, Sullivan has been insisting that he has a recording of the conversation to prove it. But, until now, Sullivan has refused to release the tape.
Amid the controversy, Sullivan has been accused buy lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick of "destroying the Republican party in Texas."
Well, this week, as The Dallas Morning News reports, Texans' questions will be answered about what happened in that meeting. Michael Quinn Sullivan says he will release the tape of his meeting with Dennis Bonnen. Texas Democrats, in addition to the state's GOP, have demanded that Sullivan release the tape.
An investigation has also been launched by the Texas Rangers.
