Study: An Evening Glass of Red Wine Can Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

We’ve been hearing for years about the benefits of having a bit of red wine with dinner. But now, according to Colorado Public Radio, there’s even more good news for those who enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings: A new study in the Annals of Internal Medicine reports that red wine drunk regularly and in moderation can help to prevent Type 2 diabetes.

Researchers studied people with diabetes over a long period. The study involved three groups: one drank one glass of red wine per day, one drank a glass of white wine per day and the third group drank mineral water. The group that drank red wine had the most improved cardiovascular health with Type 2 diabetes. However, there is cause for caution; consuming more than one or two glasses can lead to health risks.
