Epileptic Texans Await Forthcoming Medical Marijuana Legalization

Texans only have a few weeks to wait until medical marijuana becomes legal in the state. But, as The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, only Texans with the most tenacious forms of epilepsy will be allowed to purchase the drug.

Marijuana plants are currently being grown in South-Central Texas. The active ingredients in the plants will be converted to liquids and sold in droppers to epileptics before the end of this year.

However, the drug only offers medical benefits and will not provide a high to those who ingest it. The availability of medical marijuana will be welcome news to many of the 150,000 Texans with intractable epilepsy who are allowed to access the drug.

But the news will likely add to the frustration of Texans who would like to legally purchase marijuana containing the psychoactive ingredient THC.

Marijuana is now legal in some form in over half of all U.S. states.
