According to a new study, Oklahoma has shown some improvements in smoking rates and obesity rates.
But, as The Tulsa World reports,the state still ranks last in percentage of uninsured residents. The figures come courtesy of the annual America’s Health Rankings report by the United Health Foundation.
The study shows that Oklahoma has jumped nine spots, up to 36th in the nation, when it comes to the rate of tobacco users. Oklahoma has also risen 11 spots in the rankings for low birthrates, and now sits at 22nd in the U.S. And the state performed well when it comes to the number of per capita mental health providers.
However, immunizations for children dropped significantly this year. Oklahoma also showed poorly when it came to child poverty rates, cancer deaths, and cardiovascular deaths.
